Episodes blends rigorous scholarship with real‑world examples to bring to life the eternal Truth and teachings that the Holy Quran and of the Ahlul Bayt – peace be upon them.  Listeners can stream or download episodes on the website – only – we are not on any major corporate platform.

Meet the Founder – Sayyid Samer Hakim

With a unique blend of academic rigour and spiritual insight, Sayyid Samer Hakim brings together decades of professional experience and a deep commitment to Islamic learning and teaching.

• Pharmacist – Graduated from Monash University (Melbourne, 1999) and has practiced pharmacy ever since.
• Islamic Scholar – Began formal study in 2014 at the Qom seminary, earning a B.A. and M.A. in Qur’anic Sciences and Exegesis. His theses’ explored Qur’an memorisation methods and the alignment of Qur’anic education with the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.
• Educator & Author – Has taught on topics ranging from Qur’anic concepts and fiqh to spoken Arabic, health & wellbeing in Islamic traditions, and migration. Authored Migration and the Choice Between a Permissible Difficult and a Forbidden Ease and Pursuing Excellence: The Guide to Memorising the Holy Qur’an. Translated seminal works by Shaykh Mohsen Gharaati.

All of this expertise now fuels Practical Islam, ensuring every piece of content—whether a 10‑minute podcast snippet or an e‑book chapter—is rooted in authentic scholarship and presented in a way that’s relevant to today’s Muslim.
