Summary

In our moments of doubt and trial, we often feel alone against the world. Yet, a profound truth from the Holy Quran offers a perspective that can transform fear into profound serenity by revealing the reality of the Divine Soldiers. It speaks of an unseen, ever-ready support system that operates at the command of the Divine. This understanding is a living reality that can steady our hearts and change our entire approach to life’s challenges.  Join us in episode 21 of The Victory Blueprint.

1. Understanding Allah SWT’s Soldiers in the Heavens and Earth

The Holy Quran sends a powerful message of reassurance to the believers. In one verse, Allah SWT describes sending tranquillity into their hearts to increase their faith upon faith. The reason given for this divine calm is a staggering reality:

وَلِلَّهِ جُنُودُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ

And to Allah SWT belong the soldiers of the heavens and the earth
(Surah Fath 4)

This statement is so crucial it is repeated in the same chapter, emphasizing that this army belongs to Allah SWT alone, whether for the believers or as a warning to others.

Believing this changes everything. It means every atom, every force of nature, and every angel is a soldier on standby. They are not idle. They await the command “Be,” and it is. This cosmic army can help where needed, acting instantaneously by His will. Because of this, our worldly struggles are never merely against visible foes. We are supported by a creation entirely submitted to its Creator. This belief was the foundation of Prophet Musa’s (a.s.) courage when trapped between the sea and Pharaoh’s army. His reply was not a list of resources but a declaration of supreme trust:

كَلَّا ۖ إِنَّ مَعِيَ رَبِّي

No! Indeed, with me is my Lord.

2. Rumi’s Poem on Divine Army and Prophetic Aid

The mystic poet Rumi beautifully illustrated this Quranic truth. He wrote that all particles of the earth and heavens are the “army of Truth” in the hour of trial. His poem is a about divine interventions, pulling examples straight from the Holy Quran. For instance, he asks if we saw what the wind did to the arrogant people of ‘Aad or what the sea did to Pharaoh.

Similarly, he reminds us of the stones that rained upon the people of Lut (a.s.). The Holy Quran describes this:

فَلَمَّا جَآءَ أَمْرُنَا جَعَلْنَا عَـٰلِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهَا حِجَارَةً مِّن سِجِّيلٍ مَّنضُودٍ

So when Our command came, We made its highest part its lowest and rained upon them stones of layered hard clay
(Surah Hud 11:82)

Even the earth itself acted as a soldier, swallowing Qarun and his arrogance.

The part of the poem used listed the following examples from the Holy Quran:

      1. The People of ‘Aad: An ancient tribe destroyed by a furious, roaring wind sent as punishment.

      2. The Deluge (The Flood of Noah): The great flood that destroyed the disbelieving people in the time of Prophet Noah a.s.

      3. Pharaoh & the Red Sea: The Egyptian Pharaoh and his army were drowned in the Red Sea while pursuing Prophet Moses a.s. and the Israelites.

      4. Korah (Qarun): A man of immense wealth whose arrogance led to the earth swallowing him and his treasures.

      5. The Bird (Ababil) & the Elephant: The army of Abraha, which included war elephants and came to destroy the Kaaba in Mecca, was repelled and destroyed by a flock of birds throwing stones of clay.

      6. The Gnat & Nimrod: The tyrannical King Nimrod, who opposed Prophet Abraham a.s, was killed by a single gnat that entered his brain.

      7. David & Goliath: The young Prophet David a.s. defeated the giant warrior Goliath with a stone from his sling, empowered by Allah SWT.

      8. The People of Lot a.s.: The sinful people of Sodom were destroyed by a rain of stones of baked clay (hijaratan min sijjil).

Rumi’s point is profound. If he were to list all the times inanimate creation aided the prophets, the book would be too heavy to carry. This reality should instil a holy fear in those who oppose truth. Every part of creation, even one’s own body, can turn into a soldier testifying against the disbeliever at Allah SWT’s command. This understanding of the Divine Soldiers manifests as fearless faith, seen in the courage of the righteous who know no bullet strikes without divine permission.

3. Allah SWT’s Absolute Knowledge and Wisdom in Our Lives

This divine system operates with perfect precision. The verse concludes with a description of the Commander:

وَكَانَ اللَّهُ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا

And ever is Allah SWT Knowing and Wise
(Surah Fath 4)

His knowledge is absolute and His wisdom is flawless. He is never negligent, forgetful, or unaware of our state. This attribute completes our understanding of His soldiers. They are deployed with perfect knowledge and timing.

Prophet Ibrahim (a.s.) (Abraham) embodied this trust. When asked if he had a need to ask of his Lord by the Archangel Jibrael a.s., he replied that Allah SWT’s knowledge of his situation made asking unnecessary. His knowledge of our plight is enough. Believing in Allah SWT’s all-encompassing knowledge and wisdom directly affects our behaviour. It shapes how we act as individuals and how we function as a community. It builds patience, reliance, and the courage to stand for truth, knowing the outcome rests with the All-Knowing.

May this understanding deepen our faith and expand our hearts. Let us not, through weak faith or cynical doubt, voluntarily restrict the flow of divine aid and blessings that come from the heavens and the earth. Trusting in the power and precision of the Divine Soldiers is what leads to unshakable serenity, for everything in existence is enlisted, awaiting the command of the Most Wise, the All-Knowing.
