Summary

In this episode we move from the background of the Hudaybiyyah treaty to the moment when Allah declares a clear, manifest conquest for the Prophet ﷺ in Surah Al‑Fath:

إِنَّا فَتَحْنَا لَكَ فَتْحًا مُّبِينًا – “Indeed, We have granted you a manifest victory.”

The discussion pivots around some important central lessons including:

The Transition from Nasr (victories) to Fath (conquest)

The treaty at Hudaybiyyah, though appearing as a modest peace accord that some were not happy about, was actually the first Fath, the first conquest—the divine opening that paved the way for much more later on….

  • The Qur’anic promise brings four concrete blessings:
    1. Forgiveness of past and future “sins” (مَا تَقَدَّمَ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ).
    2. Completion of Allah’s favor (يُتِمَّ نِعْمَتَهُ).
    3. Guidance to a straight path (يَهْدِيَ صِرَاطًا مُسْتَقِيمًا).
    4. A mighty, enduring victory (نَصْرًا عَزِيزًا).

These benefits are not isolated events; they constitute an ongoing triumph for the Prophet and the ummah, confirming that the “clear conquest” was already in effect. (Consider the past and present tense being used in the Ayahs).

Timing and Obedience: Avoid Being Marīq or Zāhiq

الْمُتَقَدِّمُ لَهُمْ مَارِقٌ وَالْمُتَأَخِّرُ عَنْهُمْ زَاهِقٌ وَاللَّازِمُ لَهُمْ لَاحِقٌ

“The one who is ahead of them is a ‘marīq’ (a person who is lost, misguided, or out‑of‑place), and the one who lags behind them is a ‘zāhiq’ (a person who is ruined, wasted, or perished). The one who is destined for them is a ‘lāḥiq’ (someone who will inevitably catch up to them).”

The narration warns against two extremes:

  • Marīq – the one who rushes ahead, becoming misguided and out of place.
  • Zāhiq – the one who lags, ending in ruin.

The correct path is the lāḥiq—the one who follows the divine timetable, neither hastening nor hesitating. Applied to the Hudaybiyyah Treaty, the companions who wanted to charge forward or retreat too slowly missed the strategic wisdom embedded in the treaty and the measured patience and wisdom that was displayed.

Every Hardship Holds a Surrounding Blessing

مَا مِنْ بَلِيَّةٍ إِلَّا وَاللَّهِ فِيهَا نِعْمَةٌ تُحِيطُ بِهَا

“Every hardship come  s with a blessing from God that surrounds it.”

The episode emphasizes that the pain of turning back, the anxiety over the treaty, and indeed and trial or tribulation are enveloped by divine blessings. Recognising this “blessing‑surrounding” reality transforms despair into sākinah (tranquility) and strengthens faith. It also explains why the early Muslims, despite feeling humiliated, eventually experienced an unprecedented era of conquest—because each difficulty was a concealed conduit for Allah’s mercy and victory.
