In this profound episode, the host delivers a powerful “reality check” on the very nature of success and goodness. Challenging the modern obsession with building our personal “resumes,” the discussion centers on a core dilemma: do we operate on a model of “Allah and me” or “Allah through me”? Using the opening verses of Surah Al-Fath as a divine blueprint, the episode systematically dismantles our ego, teaching that true monotheism (Tawheed) means recognizing Allah as the sole author of every victory, every good deed, and even our ability to avoid sin.
Here are the three major points discussed, along with their start times:
1. The Foundation: All Action is From Allah
The episode begins by analyzing the opening of Surah Al-Fath (48:1-3), where Allah emphatically credits Himself for the victory, forgiveness, and guidance. This introduces the foundational principle of Tawheed in action:
لَا حَوْلَوَ لَا قُوَّةَإِلَّا باللَّهِ
“There is no power nor might except with Allah”
The takeaway is a direct command: we must stop attributing our deeds to ourselves.
2. The Deepening: It’s Also About What You Don’t Do
The concept is expanded with a powerful narration: “There is no power for us to avoid sins, and no strength for us to perform obedience, except with Allah’s help.” This means that resisting sin is a gift of protection from Allah, and performing a good deed is a gift of enablement from Him. This is presented as the fullest sense of Tawheed in action (Tawheed Af’aali)..
3. The Liberating Shift: Your New Role as Allah’s Honored Instrument
The episode culminates in a liberating mindset shift. It’s not “Allah first, me second.” It’s “Allah, first and last, acting through me.” When someone helps you, see them as the “angel” or tool through which Allah delivered His blessing. When you do good, see yourself as the honored instrument Allah chose to use. This eradicates arrogance in the doer and deepens gratitude in the recipient.
Individually, it crushes arrogance and anxiety, collectively, it forges a unified community bound by gratitude. listen in for more.
