About Sayyid Samer Hakim

With a unique blend of academic rigour and spiritual insight, Sayyid Samer Hakim brings together years of professional experience and a deep commitment to Islamic learning and teaching.

A practising pharmacist since graduating from Monash University (Melbourne, 1999), Sayyid Samer began his journey of formal Islamic scholarship in 2014 at the seminary in Qom, where he has since earned both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Qur’anic Sciences and Exegesis. His theses focused on two timely and vital topics: the significance and methodology of memorising the Qur’an, and the intersection of Qur’anic education with the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Driven by a love for knowledge and its application, Sayyid Samer has taught a wide range of courses for global audiences, including:

• The Holy Qur’an: Concepts (Mafaheem)
• Islamic Jurisprudence (Fiqh)
• Spoken Arabic (with The World Federation)
• Quranic Sciences (with The World Federation)
• Health & Wellbeing in Islamic Traditions
• The Topic of Migration

He is the author of Migration and the Choice Between a Permissible Difficult and a Forbidden Ease, and Pursuing Excellence: The Guide to Memorising the Holy Qur’an. He has also translated key works by renowned scholar Shaykh Mohsen Gharaati, including Parables: Important Questions, Simple Answers and Ramadhan with The Holy Qur’an: 30 Lessons in 30 Days.

Sayyid Samer is actively engaged with the international Muslim community through telegram, where he responds to jurisprudential questions from around the world. When needed, he consults scholars and experts from the leading marja’iyyah offices in Qom to ensure accurate, tailored responses.

He also runs practicalislam.online, a platform dedicated to making Islamic teachings accessible, relevant, and spiritually enriching.
