Online Application: You can apply to renew your passport here: https://www.passports.gov.au/help/applying-outside-australia A much less cumbersome experience where you only need to go to the embassy to pick up the passports. Going to the Embassy: If you are looking to renew/replace your Australia passport by going in to the embassy - get your photos from the recommended photo shop.  They have rejected other photos or at least instilled doubt in to photos from other shops (in particular those from other than Tehran!).
