In this episode of the series, we further reflect on the profound Divine Blessings and Tranquillity. The Ayah from Surah Al-Fath offers a beautiful and comprehensive promise, inviting us to understand the divine gifts that shape a believer’s path in this life and the next.
The Ayah presents a complete spiritual package. Following the sakinah-a deep, divine tranquillity that settles the heart, and increase faith strengthening our connection to Allah SWT, The ultimate fulfilment is a promise of admission to the eternal gardens of Paradise.
[And] that He may admit the believing men and the believing women to gardens beneath which rivers flow to abide therein eternally and remove from them their misdeeds – and ever is that, in the sight of Allah , a great attainment -.
(Surah Fath 48:5)
This promise covers our misdeeds, and we attain the greatest victory. This is the core hope for every believer, a promise centred on the everlasting life to come.
Could this divine state also appear in our worldly experience? The attributes of Paradise-tranquillity, strong faith, and purified kinship-can be present in a community of believers here on earth. This creates a spiritual sanctuary, a foretaste of the eternal gardens. The way to reach this state is understanding the full scope of the Divine Blessings promised to us, which begin with inner peace and culminate in eternal reward.
Imagine a congregation bound by profound peace and unity, free from the stress and anxiety common in life. Historically, the community saw this change after pivotal victories like Khaybar and Mecca. For instance, the believers moved from a defensive posture to having the decisive upper hand.
They no longer merely reacted to attacks but established peace on their own terms. This blueprint shows us that a state of victory and spiritual security is possible, offering a real sense of a worldly paradise.
Looking at history reveals a clear progression for a believing community. The lessons show three distinct stages in overcoming adversity, providing a practical model for us today.
This progression leads to a potential possibility suggesting that the “paradise” where misdeeds are covered can refer to a purified state which the believing community achieves in this world. Through trials, unity, and divine support, these experiences refine and improve them, allowing them to live in a condition of honour and security that mirrors the divine promise. Remembering also that no one enters paradise unless they have already been purified, where as this Ayah seems to reflect an entering in to Paradise preceding the removal of misdeeds.
The path of faith is not just a wait for the hereafter. It is an active way where God’s favour and spiritual gifts-tranquillity, increased faith, and communal purity-begin their work in our hearts and our communities today. By understanding this blueprint, we can try to build lives and societies that reflect a true, God-conscious peace, earnestly hoping for the eternal fulfilment of His magnificent promise.
To live with purpose and hope is to walk in the certainty of these Divine Blessings.
