In our search for strength and victory, we often look outward, to numbers and worldly power. But what if the most profound source of strength, the truest form of victory, lies within the heart? This inner state, a divine tranquility, is not passive acceptance but an active, unshakeable fortress of faith that changes every circumstance.
The first and most profound effect of this tranquility is an immunity to the pressures of the world. When a believer’s heart is truly anchored in Allah SWT, the blame of entire societies cannot create a sense of weakness or self-doubt if they know they have fulfilled their duty. In moments of great worldly triumph and conquest, this same heart feels not a single grain of arrogance or desire for transgression. The knot is tied directly to Allah SWT, making Him the sole focus. In hardship, He is seen as the One who saves and opens doors; in success, He is the true source of the victory. This consistent inner peace becomes a powerful magnet, attracting others to the beauty of Islam, for people are naturally drawn to a soul that has found genuine comfort and stability. This is the promise for those who stand firm, as Allah SWT says:
إِنَّ الَّذِينَ قَالُوا رَبُّنَا اللَّهُ ثُمَّ اسْتَقَامُوا تَتَنَزَّلُ عَلَيْهِمُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ أَلَّا تَخَافُوا وَلَا تَحْزَنُوا وَأَبْشِرُوا بِالْجَنَّةِ الَّتِي كُنتُمْ تُوعَدُونَ
Indeed, those who have said, ‘Our Lord is Allah SWT’ and then remained on a right course – the angels will descend upon them, [saying], ‘Do not fear and do not grieve but receive good tidings of Paradise, which you were promised.’
(Reference: Surah Fussilat 30)
This inner state represents the highest form of propagation and the most complete victory in the sight of Allah SWT. We have seen believers facing bombings, torture, and death with their final words being the remembrance of Allah SWT and the Shahadah. Apparent loss? Perhaps. But the inner victory—the preservation of faith and dignity—is the greater triumph. Military success is only one small part of the victory Allah SWT grants. History is our teacher: at Hudaybiyyah, the terms seemed a bitter defeat, yet they led to an opening for Islam that no one could have calculated. At Uhud, a tactical setback held profound lessons. And at Karbala, the 72 faced 30,000 or more with a calm that enraged their enemy, their request for a night not to strategize for survival, but to pray and worship. In each case, the perfection of the soul and the demonstration of unwavering faith outweighed any worldly outcome.
This understanding places a great responsibility upon our tongues and actions. We must never be the cause of weakening the Ummah or, even inadvertently, strengthening our enemies by sowing disunity and doubt. This is not about hiding truth, but about wisdom in speech that builds unity and resilience. Careless words can be used as weapons against us, making us unknowing agents for those who wish us harm. It calls for immense trust in Allah’s SWT plan, recognizing that He grants victory through means we cannot always foresee or understand, just as He did with the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah. Our duty is to hold fast to our obligations with a tranquil heart, trusting that Allah’s SWT help will arrive through the channels He alone knows.
True strength, therefore, is this divine tranquility—a heart so connected to its Creator that fear and grief are replaced with certainty, and every event becomes a sign of faith. It is this inner fortress that attracts hearts, defines real victory, and protects the collective strength of the believers. By seeking and nurturing this state, we align ourselves with the ultimate source of all support and triumph.
